While making a historical film about the incursion of Christopher Columbus in the New World, the director finds that the Bolivian locals, cast as extras in the production, are protesting the privatization of their water supply. The film parallels the historical events of the Spanish conquest by Columbus and the true events of local Bolivians living in the city of Cochabamba,  who are fighting against water privatization.
